Camp Rules

Safety

Camp Unleashed is intended only for well-socialized dogs. That means dogs who interact appropriately with other dogs and are not aggressive to dogs or people.  As with dog parks, certain rules are set to ensure camp is safe for humans and canines.

To minimize potential tension, we do not allow un-neutered males or females in heat. No matter how sweet their temperament might be, the hormones in intact dogs results in a chemical arousal in the other dogs present, which can lead to a natural behavioral response such as aggression. In order to maintain a very relaxed environment for all the dogs, we cannot take on the additional intrinsic challenge and potential problem presented by this specific olfactory stimulus.

Dog Behavior

No dog that has demonstrated any aggressive behavior toward people or bitten another dog is permitted.

If your dog has aggression or fear/anxiety problems with other dogs, please call to discuss whether camp is appropriate. Camp is not a place for you or your dog to work out these kinds of serious behavior problems. If your dog exhibits aggressive behavior, Camp Unleashed reserves the right to expel you from camp without a refund. Our number-one priority is to maintain a safe and relaxed environment for all.

Dogs need not be highly trained in obedience, but should be generally well-behaved. That means no fence-jumping, running away, destruction of property or excessive barking, especially when left apart from their human for brief periods of time. We can only accept dogs over the age of 10 months.

The camp director reserves the right to dismiss any camper who dog’s conduct is in any way detrimental to the interests of other camps and their dogs. If your dog causes any damage to any property, you will be responsible for the full cost of repairs.

We do not allow e-collars, shock/choke/chain/prong collars, or flexi-leads at camp. They do not integrate with our positive philosophy and can be dangerous during play and interaction.

Payments & Cancellations

A deposit of $200 per person is required to save your spot in camp. It is non-refundable under all circumstances.  The full amount of the package you select must be paid 60 days before camp or your reservation will be cancelled.

Because our highest priority is a safe, relaxed environment, we reserve the right to ask you to leave camp without a refund if we deem your dog to be a danger to other dogs or people. For questions, please email campunleashedllc@gmail.com.

In order for everyone to fully enjoy a relaxing stay, Camp Unleashed has established health protocols and safety rules that are strictly enforced.

Health

We do everything we can to ensure all dogs arrive and leave healthy. Therefore we require a Health Certificate signed by your veterinarian (within 30 days of camp start date) stipulating that your dog is free of any contagious skin condition or other health problem. You will also need to provide proof of an up-to-date rabies vaccination, as required by law, or a signed letter from your veterinarian with a copy of acceptable titre levels.  In case of an emergency, veterinarians are available in the area 24/7, and for minor problems, veterinary technicians on staff at Camp Unleashed may be able to assist.

Life at Camp

Each camper may bring up to 2 dogs.

For most of camp your dog is free to be off-leash as long as they respond to your voice recall, doesn’t have problems around other dogs, and doesn't run away. In certain workshops, we may ask for you to keep your dog on a leash for a short period in order to limit distractions.

Campers are responsible for cleaning up all dog poop immediately. Trash cans and bags will be conveniently located.

State health regulations prohibit dogs in the dining hall.

No smoking is allowed in any camp building.

Campers must be over 12 years of age and if under 18 years of age accompanied by their legal guardian and experienced with dogs and dog behavior.

Camp Unleashed is not responsible for weather conditions resulting in site-related difficulties. In the event of inclement weather, the camp schedule may be changed to allow for alternative indoor activities.
