Health & Safety

Health
Our goal is to do everything possible to ensure that all dogs arrive and leave healthy. Therefore, we require a current veterinarian's certificate (within 30 days of camp start state) stipulating that your dog is free of any contagious skin condition or other health problem. You will also need to provide proof of an up-to-date rabies vaccination, as required by law. In case of an emergency, veterinarians are available in the area 24/7 and for minor problems, veterinary technicians on staff at Camp Unleashed, may be able to assist.
Camp Unleashed is intended for well-socialized dogs only. As with urban "dog parks", certain rules must be set to ensure camp is safe for humans and canines.
- No dog that has demonstrated ANY aggressive behavior toward people or bitten another dog is permitted. If your dog has aggression or fear/anxiety problems with other dogs, please call to discuss whether camp is appropriate. Unfortunately, camp is not a place to work out these kinds of serious behavior problems. If your dog exhibits aggressive behavior, Camp Unleashed reserves the right to expel you from camp without a refund. Our number-one priority is to maintain a safe and relaxed environment for all.
- All dogs who attend camp must be neutered or spayed.
- Dogs need not be highly trained in obedience, but should be generally well behaved-no fence jumping, running away, destruction to property or excessive barking, especially when left in a crate, on a tie-out, or apart from their human.
- Human campers must be over 12 years of age and those under 18 years of age must be accompanied by their legal guardian and experienced with dogs and dog behavior.
- Dogs must be at least six months old and have received all required inoculations.
Other Rules
- For most of camp your dog is free to be off leash as long as she/he responds to your voice recall, doesn’t have any problems around other dogs and doesn't run away. However, in certain workshops, we may ask for you to keep your dog on a leash for a short period in order to limit distractions.
- Campers are responsible for cleaning up every "poop" immediately. Trashcans and bags will be conveniently located.
- Each camper may bring up to 2 dogs.
- There are many opportunities to let your dog off leash while in the field, lake or woods, as long as she/he doesn't have any problems around other dogs and doesn't run away. However, in training and densely peopled areas, dogs must be leashed.
- State health regulations prohibit dogs in the dining hall. However, you may eat your meals outside, to be with your dog. There will be stakes available for nearby tethering during meals or other times your dog can't be with you.
- If your dog causes any damage to camp property, you will be responsible for the full cost of repairs.
- No smoking is allowed in any camp building.
- Camp Unleashed is not responsible for weather conditions resulting in site-related difficulties. In the event of inclement weather, the camp schedule may be changed to allow for alternative indoor activities.
- Your deposit of $200 per person guarantees your space. Deposits are nonrefundable and nontransferable.
