Hello,
I am a Clinical Psychologist in Asheville, N.C. and have been practicing, writing, and presenting nationally on animal assisted psychotherapy for over twenty years. Presently I am very involved with the local Pet Therapy Organization, Paws with a Purpose, with my Golden doodle, Misha, and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Callie. I have been astounded, in my own life, and in the lives of people with whom I work, by the amazing healing power of animals, and feel a sense of gratitude to my own dogs. Misha and I have participated together in agility and obedience work, but never have the two of us been happier than at our first session at Camp Unleashed in the Berkshires. My goals for Camp Unleashed Asheville are to bring this wonderful experience “down south,” to provide a peaceful spot where the spirits of dogs and their people can soar, heal, relax, and learn. Our dogs deserve this experience of safe freedom off-leash, and we can relish their exuberance, enhance our relationships with them, and meet other wonderful people at the same time. I am excited to meet all of you and your companions and truly believe that with the incredible staff, creative and fun workshops, and the gorgeous Camp Blue Star setting, Camp Unleashed Asheville is going to be amazing!

Blue Star Camps has been a family owned and operated children’s camp since 1948. Blue Star is located on a private 500-acre estate with two spring-fed lakes, just outside of Hendersonville, NC, 27 miles from the scenic and artsy Asheville. Nestled at 2,500 feet above sea level in the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains, Blue Star’s specially designed campus, as well as the surrounding area, is a sanctuary from the stresses of the real world. You may choose private, single, double or shared (3 people) accommodations in a single spacious cabin with electricity that shares a private bathroom and shower with one other adjoining cabin.
Campers bring their own towels, linens, sleeping pillow and blanket. Three healthy (adult-style) meals (with options for vegetarians and vegans), including a full salad bar at both lunch and dinner are served daily.
| Paws with a Purpose (www.pawswithapurpose.org) Paws with A Purpose, is a non-profit organization of dedicated volunteers and their pets who provide animal-assisted activities (AAA) and animal-assisted therapy (AAT) services to individuals of all ages with physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs in healthcare facilities and educational programs in and around North Carolina. Camp Unleashed Asheville is pleased and proud to be donating a portion of all profits to Paws with a Purpose and each of their members who wish to attend Camp will receive a $25 credit as well. |
Lodging and Rates
Four accommodation choices are available or participants can really rough it by bringing their own tents. All campers and dogs bunk together!
Camp Unleashed Asheville Package Rates (per person):

- Shared Cabin (3-4 people) $799 per person
INTRO RATE: $650 - Double-occupancy cabin $849 per person*

Note: Single, Double, & Shared Options
Choose the lodging accommodation that best suits your needs. Rates for Single, Double & Shared vary with the number of people per cabin or room: "Single Occupancy" provides one person a private cabin or room. Shared Housing accommodations are designed to house multiple campers. "Double Occupancy" provides one cabin for two people with separate beds. "Shared Cabin" is designed to house multiple campers of three or more people (although alcoves provide some privacy). If you would like to register for camp, but need to be matched with a suitable cabinmate(s), we will find one for you! Simply check the box on the registration form or call us to discuss options.
*If 2 people are sharing a cabin as Double Occupancy and have only one dog (together), the fee for the second person is only $399. Work exchange/scholarships are available. Please call us to discuss.

Payment / Cancellation Policies
- A $200 non-refundable, non-transferable deposit, per person, guarantees your reservation. Daily camper fees must be paid in full at time of reservation.
- All camp fees must be paid in full 30 days prior to camp session.
- Returned checks are subject to $30 fee.
- Cancellations made 30 to 60 days prior to camp session, will receive a 50% refund of paid fees, less the deposit.
- Cancellations made less than one month prior to camp session are not subject to any refund of paid fees or deposit.
