Marissa Martino graduated with honors from the SF/SPCA Academy for Dog Trainers in San Francisco and is certified as a Professional Dog Trainer and Behavioral Counselor. After graduation, Marissa worked for the Humane Society of Boulder Valley in Boulder, CO. There she implemented a Behavior Modification Program for shelter dogs with various special needs: such as fear, separation anxiety, resource guarding and dog-dog aggression. She is thrilled to be back in her favorite city, San Francisco, with her black lab mix, Sully. Marissa loves interacting with her students, both human and canine: “I enjoy teaching people and watching them learn new training concepts. Once the owners understand what to do, the dogs pick it up in no time! It’s a wonderful process to be a part of!” After she moved back to San Francisco, she worked as the Training Programs Manager of SF Puppy Prep where she used her shelter experience to educate the public on the power of socialization and prevention of behavioral issues. In addition to operating her own business, Paws and Reward, Marissa is currently the new Behavior and Training Manager of the East Bay SPCA. She is in training for the Off Leash Behavior Director of Camp Unleashed Sequoia Lake.
