Annie Brody founded Camp Unleashed in 2004. She has a B.S. from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University where she studied initially with the goal of becoming a veterinarian. After graduation she enjoyed success in book publishing at Workman Publishing, film production, environmental education, program development, and communications. Since 1994, when she adopted her first dog, Hero, Annie has immersed herself in the world of dogs, especially dog behavior, and studying the human-dog relationship. She and Hero became certified as a Delta Society Volunteer Team offering animal-assisted therapy to children with cerebral palsy in New York City. She was National Sales Manager for Whole Life Pet Products, has written for Bark Magazine and other publications, and was a key advisor to the team that created the Through A Dog’s Ear book and music cd series. Annie serves as a volunteer program and communications consultant to Tails of Hope Foundation and was on the Advisory Committee of Finding One Another:10th Anniversary Tribute to the Search & Rescue Community of 9/11.
She is currently working on a pilot program with Tails of Hope Foundation and Kay Loveland, Ph.D, called Camp HOPE Unleashed for veterans with PTSD and their assistance canines. She lives in upstate New York near the Berkshires with 2 dogs and a cat.
